Greetings from the Elgin Centennial Book Committee

As you know, Elgin will be 100 years old in the year 2010. To commemorate this occasion we are in the process of developing a book that is a continuation of the Elgin Diamond Jubilee Book (1910-1985). The Centennial Book will include your family history from 1985 to the present along with interesting information on past/present businesses gathered by local historian Sisco Maier. We would also like to include information on local organizations, churches, the school, and other "historical data" that you consider important. For residents that did not include family history in the first book, this would provide another opportunity to submit information. The family history forms will be delivered to your door on or before Sept. 15. The form may also be found on the city's web site <www.elginnd.com>.

For this community project to be successful, we need your assistance in providing accurate and current information on your family. To assist you in the preparation of your family history, the committee has established basic guidelines that should make the process a bit easier to complete. You will find the guidelines below.

When submitting family/individual pictures, please mark the back of your pictures with your name and address so they can be returned safely. Place the pictures in an envelope along with your family history so all the information we receive from you stays together.

To give you ample time to prepare your family history, we have set a deadline of December 15, 2007. Completed family histories and photographs may be taken to one of the following Elgin business places: Elgin True Value, First International Bank and Trust or mailed to: ELGIN CENTENNIAL BOOK, Box 93, Elgin, ND 58533 or access the form at <www.elginnd.com>.

We are unable to give you the cost of the book at this time as there are many variables that affect cost and many decisions that must be made before a purchase price can be reached.
