Hello, from the halls of your alma mater in Elgin, North Dakota. We hope this finds you well, with the new year of 2008 off to a good start for you. May it be a wonderful year for everyone.

The purpose of this letter is to enlist your help. 1.) We are working to replace the bleachers in the R. G. Beede Auditorium for several reasons. First safety. They are the "open" type bleachers that are dangerous for children and older citizens. We have had several falls in the past years, one resulting in a broken hip of an elderly person and a couple involving small children, one resulting in stitches to a cut on the leg. Second, mechanical failure. The bleachers no longer pull out and push in without major problems of lockup or uneven retraction, causing them to have to be pulled out again to start over. New bleachers would be of the closed design and also have hand rails for people to hang on to, along with areas of steps to go up and down, something the current bleachers do not have. 2.) We are also looking to replace the sound system in the gymnasium. We get constant complaints during graduation exercises, music concerts, drama events, basketball games and volleyball matches that the announcements, speeches and comments cannot be heard or heard well enough to understand. Some people have indicated that they no longer have a desire to come to such events, because they can't hear what is being said anyway. We are looking for a quality system at a reasonable cost to cure the problem.

That's why we are requesting your assistance. With the use of the facility for community and school events, we want to be assured that everyone in attendance gets the most from their experience, in being able to hear the presentations properly and be comfortable and sale in the stands. A fund has been established at First International Bank & Trust of Elgin for any donations that may be received to go toward the cost of these items. Any donations of $100 or more will have names engraved on a plaque, in several different categories, to be hung on the gym wall as a remembrance. Donations can be made in honor of someone or in memory of someone and these will be indicated on the plaque also. Donations/contributions can be sent to the following address:
